Jacqueline Conoir & JAC: Fall/Winter 2012

Hold onto your petite chapeaus my fabulous friends; you’re in for a treat today! Last week Megan West and I were two of the very lucky guests at Vancouver designer RozeMerie Cuevas’s Fall/Winter 2012 runway show for her two womenswear lines, Jaqueline Conoir and JAC.

Escaping from the torrential downpour into the 8000 square foot boutique/studio was like leaving waterlogged Vancouver for a cool New York loft party.  Tequila and wine flowed, glamorous people milled about, the bass throbbed…it had all the makings of a fabulous mid-week fashion extravaganza!

Inspiration boards and fabric samples backstage.

The first collection, Jacqueline Conoir, was shown as a fashion installation; three photographers became part of the show, holding a real-time photoshoot of the collection as the models worked the set and then strutted down the runway.  According to Cuevas, this collection was all about “showy silhouettes amplified by vibrant colours, bold prints, and the simplicity of wearing a dress.”  MW and I were particularly taken with the boiled wool coats, pseudo-reptilian prints, and an especially breathtaking ikat jumpsuit.

The JAC line, shown in a more traditional runway format, had a youthful and urban feel.  This is a collection Cuevas says is for “releasing your inner wild child.”  Predominantly black and charcoal with sequins, silver chains, and multiple zippers (plus plenty of fur!), there was an obvious rock ‘n roll influence.  Some of our favourite pieces included a printed shirtdress, sheer printed blouse, striped sequin shell, and an ombre fur vest that had the crowd cheering.

The event was spearheaded by Lj PR; from guest list check-in to the media room to the show itself the event was extremely well organized.  I have to give a shout-out to agency director Lyndi Barrett and her team at Lj PR to give them mad props on a fantastic event.

We made sure to snap some outfit pics before we dashed back into the rain!
